Thanks to the energy and vision of Jose Invencio, four GrandMasters teams assembled Sunday, June 26th for the 2005 Boston Invitational at Devens, MA. I got connected to Jose's team, WiPPed and we played through a hot, hot, hot day to earn our runner's up trophy.

Jordi and Jen made the trip out to catch a bit our game and some other friend's games. I don't think they were astonished by us GrandMasters, but the high level played elsewhere did impress.
Did I mention the day was hot? Lots of sun and just about no wind. That means lots of one-on-one coverage and there were only a few of us with the legs to go all day. But any GrandMaster is going to know how to husband their resources to make it though the three pool games.
A week and a half later, I can't reconstruct too much detail about the game play. Das Boot was the team to beat all day, prevailing in the end as the seeding saw Das Boot and WiPPed meet undefeated in the last pool game. I Need To Sit and Wrecked played for the consolation. Kudos to I Need To Sit for making the trip down from Montreal/Toronto! And many thanks to BUDA and all the folks who ran the tournament. Wait till next tourny!
