It's ALIVE!
When we got our first "real" PC (a 60 MHz Pentium from Gateway), the Atari ST1040 we had was retired to the basement. There it has sat ever since. With an eye towards doing some house cleaning, it becomes time to put this up on EBay.

I pulled the components out from the corner under the stairs and set everything up: 2 monitors, a B: floppy, a 30MB (yes, you read that right, MegaByte) hard drive, printer. The hard drive is not responding, maybe it can be resurrected, but life is short and getting shorter. The printer is sloppy, it prints but probably needs some cleaning or new rollers to get acceptable results.
But the rest seems to work. The 15 year old floppy disks still are readable (at least the 4 or 5 I tried).
I gave Psion Chess the task to finish the chess game Jeff & I have been playing. Its Your Turn had a catastrophic disk crash and lost our game at move 22, black to move. I think Jeff had the edge. Psion had black (me) trade a rook for a knight, but with a 2 pawn advantage. Maybe not what I would have done. I should go back and see how it turns out, this is not the speediest computer.
We will see if there is some interest from EBay. Interest about the Atari I mean.
