Two

Josie turned two this week. We joined her for some Mexican take-out, to open some presents, and to blow out the candles on the birthday cake.

Her big present is a stride bike, and with her new helmet on, we headed down to the park. What strikes me is, at the park, Josie has mastered almost all the equipment there. She scrambles up all the ladders and slides down all the slides.

When asked "how old are you?", showing the icing on the tips of her index fingers, Josie says "I'm two!" But as we start to clean up afterwords, we ask again and get this answer, "almost three".

Blackberries have been featured in the local supermarket for a week or more, so I picked up a couple of 12 oz packs from Mexico on Saturday. We are also seeing rhubarb, so knowing a web search will always find a recipe for just about any given set of ingredients, I got some of that too. The web search hit on a site from which this entry's title is quoted. kitcheninferno has insight both on cooking and cooking photography.

We had lunch Sunday at IHOP (where Jordi lost and found his Red Sox cap) with the J's and this pie was made later in the afternoon, so you only get my opinion: yummy. Jen is staying focused on apple pie, so I don't think she is too much missing this blackberry rhubarb combo.

Jordi's sister is in town visiting. The weather has been dreary, but what can you do? Everyone manages a smile for the camera.

The pie in the oven is apple cranberry, with a cameo appearance by currants.
